Siku (instrument)
Siku ( qu, antara, ay, siku, also "sicu," "sicus," "zampolla" or Spanish language, Spanish zampoña) is a traditional Andes, Andean panpipe. This instrument is the main instrument used in a musical genre known as sikuri. It is traditionally found all across the Andes but is more typically associated with music from the Kollasuyo, or Aymara language, Aymara speaking regions around Lake Titicaca. Historically because of the complicated mountain geography of the region, and due to other factors, in some regions each community would develop its own type of siku, with its own special tuning, shape and size. Additionally each community developed its own style of playing. Today the siku has been standardized to fit in with modern western forms of music and has been transported from its traditional roots. Siku is the pseudonym of British/ Nigerian artist and writer Ajibayo Akinsiku, best known for his work in '' 2000 AD''. Biography Siku studied design and printing at the Yaba's School of Art, and theology at the London School of Theology. Siku's fully painted work (particularly on '' Judge Dredd'' and the ''Pan-African Judges'' stories) has been appearing in '' 2000 AD'' and the '' Judge Dredd Megazine'' since 1991. Siku also works in the computer games industry and as a conceptualist and freelance concept artist. Siku (polar Bear)
Siku (born 22 November 2011 in Skandinavisk Dyrepark) is a male polar bear. He was several siblings such as Sné. After his mother failed to produce enough milk to feed him, he was taken into care in the Scandinavian Wildlife Park in Denmark. In terms of popular appeal, he is by some considered to be a possible successor to the polar bear Knut, who attracted worldwide attention at Berlin Zoo from 2006 until his death in 2011. A YouTube video showing Siku at the age of one month attracted hundreds of thousands of hits in just twenty-four hours and he was hailed internationally as an online sensation, especially after appearing on the official BBC website. Siku Allooloo
Siku Allooloo (born 1986) is an Inuk/Haitian Taíno writer, artist, facilitator and land-based educator from Denendeh ("the Land of the People"), Northwest Territories and Pond Inlet, Nunavut in Canada. Allooloo's works incorporates the legacies of resistance to settler colonialism, and revitalization of Indigenous communities. Through her writing, visual art, and activism, Allooloo fights against colonial violence on indigenous women. She won ''Briarpatch'' magazine's 2016 creative nonfiction contest with the piece titled "Living Death". Educational background Siku Allooloo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) in anthropology and Indigenous studies from the University of Victoria.
