''Signal in the Night'' (German: ''Signal in der Nacht'') is a 1937 German war drama film directed by Richard Schneider-Edenkoben and starring Sybille Schmitz, Inge List and Hannes Stelzer.Moeller p.74 Location shooting took place at Grünwald Castle and around Bad Reichenhall in Bavaria. Synopsis A young Austrian woman marries an Italian count without really being in love with him, while secretly being admired by an Austrian captain. Things are complicated by the outbreak of the First World War in which the two countries become enemies. Julia Serda (6 April 1875 – 3 December 1965) was an Austrian stage and film actress.Grange p.120 She was married to the actor Hans Junkermann. Biography Julia Serda was born on 6 April 1875 in Vienna. She became fascinated by the stage at an early age, taking singing lessons from Pauline Lucca and studying acting at the Vienna Conservatory. Serda made her debut in 1895 at the theater in Breslau, after which she went to Köningsberg for three years. In 1899 she followed a call to the Dresden Court Theater, to which she remained connected until 1908 and was awarded the title of "Royal Saxon Court Actress". During this time, she also made her Berlin debut in 1902, appeared at the Vienna Burgtheater in 1907, and in 1908 at the Meinhard-Bernauer-Bühnen. Harald Paulsen (26 August 1895 – 4 August 1954) was a German stage and film actor and director. He appeared in 125 films between 1920 and 1954. Career Paulsen first appeared on stage at age sixteen. He then studied under from Leopold Jessner, who was then senior director at Hamburg's Thalia Theater. He made his debut at the Hamburg Stadttheater in 1913. From 1915 until 1917, he served in the German Army during World War I. in 1917–18 he played at the Fronttheater in Mitau. In 1919 he was brought to the Deutsches Theater in Berlin by Max Reinhardt. From his extensive theatrical work, his role as "Mackie Messer" ("Mack the Knife") in the world premiere of Bertolt Brecht's ''The Threepenny Opera'' is particularly noteworthy.
