Sigmund Mifsud
Sigmund Mifsud is a trumpeter, musical director, arranger, and concert producer from Malta. Education and early years Sigmund Mifsud began his musical education playing the trumpet with the Sliema Band Club at age 11, and he continued his study of music theory and orchestration with Mro. Anthony Chircop at the Johann Strauss School of Music in Valletta. Mifsud then studied harmony and counterpoint for three years with Maltese composer Mro. Carmelo Pace. At age 16, he collaborated with Mro. Paul Borg in practical sessions on trumpet playing, and later continued to work on advanced harmony and orchestration. Joseph Calleja
Joseph Calleja (born January 22, 1978) is a Maltese operatic tenor. Early life and career Calleja was born in Attard, Malta. He began singing at the age of 16, having been discovered by tenor Brian Cefai and continued his studies with Maltese tenor Paul Asciak. He attended De La Salle College. At the age of 19 he made his operatic debut as Macduff in Verdi's '' Macbeth'' at the Astra Theatre in Gozo and went on to become a prize winner at the Belvedere Hans Gabor Competition the same year. In 1998 he won the Caruso Competition in Milan and was a prize winner in Plácido Domingo's Operalia in 1999. On November 2, 2012, the University of Malta presented Calleja with a Doctor of Literature Honoris Causa in acknowledgment of his achievements as an internationally renowned tenor. Pjazza (in English: Square), is a Maltese television programme shown on TVM, the national television station of Malta. This programme begun in 2006 summer season, under the name of ''Fil-Pjazza tar-Raħal'' (In the Village Square) and then completed in the winter time with ''Kull Ħadd fil-Pjazza'' (Every Sunday in the Square), with a programme every Sunday morning.
