Sidney Robinson (British Politician)
Sidney Robinson (6 January 1863 – 6 December 1956) was a Liberal Party politician and Timber trader. Background He was the fourth son of John Robinson, of Backwell House, Somerset. He was educated at Mill Hill School. He married in 1887, Catherine Flora Grant of Cardiff. She died in 1935. Business career In 1880 he moved to Cardiff and worked in the timber trade with Messrs. John Grant & Co. He subsequently bought the company and then became a partner with T.W. David. They renamed the business Robinson, David & Co. He was elected President of the Bristol Channel Timber Importers Association. Political career In 1895 he was elected as a Liberal to Cardiff Town Council representing Splott Ward. He stood down from the Council in 1901. He opposed the Conservative Government's Education Bill which drew him back into Cardiff politics. He became President of Cardiff Liberal Association. Sidney Cecil Robinson
Sidney Cecil Robinson (12 January 1870 – 30 April 1943) was a Conservative member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Toronto, Ontario and became a business executive, industrialist and manager. In 1905, he was also a municipal councillor for Walkerville, Ontario. Robinson attended the Windsor Collegiate Institute then Detroit Business University. He served in the military with the 21st Essex Fusiliers, including service in World War I. He recruited for the 99th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He attained a rank of colonel. He was first elected to Parliament at the Essex West riding in the 1925 general election after a previous unsuccessful campaign at Essex North in a 1 March 1923 by-election. Sidney Robinson (athlete)
Sidney John Robinson (1 August 1876 in Denton, Northamptonshire – 3 February 1959 in Long Sutton, Lincolnshire) was an early twentieth century English middle-distance athlete who specialised in the steeplechase. He participated at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris for the United Kingdom and won three medals, the silver medal in the 2500 metre event beating the Frenchman Jacques Chastanié to second place and a bronze medal in the 4000 metres steeplechase. He also won the gold medal in the 5000 metres team race as part of a mixed team with Charles Bennett, John Rimmer, Alfred Tysoe Alfred Ernest Tysoe (21 March 1874 – 26 October 1901) was an English athlete, and winner of two gold medals at the 1900 Olympic Games representing Great Britain. Sydney Allen Robinson (13 August 1905 – 10 April 1978) was a British people, British trade unionist. Robinson grew up in Clophill in Northamptonshire before becoming a shoemaker.
