Donald Roy Sidle (June 21, 1946–May 25, 1987) was an American professional basketball player. A 6'8" forward/center, Sidle played at the University of Oklahoma from 1965 to 1968. He was an All-American in 1967 and 1968, after seasons in which he averaged 23.7 points and 19.8 points per game, respectively. Heinrich Schweizer-Sidler (September 12, 1815 – March 31, 1894) was a Swiss philologist born in Elgg in the canton of Zürich. From 1835 to 1838 he received his education at the University of Zürich, where he had as instructors, Johann Caspar von Orelli, Hermann Sauppe and Bernhard Hirzel. In 1838 he continued his studies in Berlin, afterwards returning to Zürich, where in 1841 he received his habilitation. Later, he taught classes in secondary schools in Aarau (1844–45) and Zürich (from 1845). In 1849 he became an associate professor at Zürich, and in 1864 was appointed a full professor of philology. In this position he specialized in Sanskrit and comparative linguistics. Jimmy Sidle
James Corbin Sidle (February 7, 1942 – November 14, 1999) was a professional American football running back in the National Football League for the Atlanta Falcons. He played college football at Auburn University and was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 4th round (47th overall) of the 1965 NFL Draft. Early years Sidle attended Sylacauga High School, before transferring after his sophomore season to L. Frazier Banks High School, where as a quarterback he received All-State and All-American honors. He also practiced basketball and won the state championship in the hurdles. He accepted a football scholarship from Auburn University, where the team employed a run oriented offense. In 1963, as the starting quarterback he finished second in the nation in rushing behind Dave Casinelli and was named first-team All-American, after leading his team to a No. 5 ranking (9-1 record) and losing 7-13 to Nebraska in the 1964 Orange Bowl. Randall Kevin Sidler (born February 4, 1956) is a former professional American football player. Sidler was selected by the New York Jets in the 5th round of the 1978 NFL Draft but never played an NFL game. He left the Jets training camp and took a break from football. The Washington Redskins then traded for him, but he did not represent them either. Winant Sidle (September 7, 1916, in Springfield, Ohio – March 15, 2005, in Southern Pines, North Carolina) was a major general in the United States Army. Biography Sidle was born on September 7, 1916, in Springfield, Ohio, and was raised in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Hamilton College in 1938 and obtained a master's degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1949. Sidle married Anne Brown in 1942. They had five children. He died on March 15, 2005, in Southern Pines, North Carolina, and is interred with Anne at Arlington National Cemetery. Career Sidle originally joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in 1940.
