Sid Scholey
Sidney Victor Scholey (4 September 1885 – 2 December 1934) was an English football manager who managed Walsall in the 1929–30 season. Scholey was born in Walsall and became trainer of his local club in 1908, remaining at Hilary Street until 1911. In his youth, he was known as a gymnast and wrestler. He also competed in weight-lifting competitions. He then became a masseur at the Marine Hydro in Rhyl, where he treated many famous footballers. He had a spell as trainer at Stockport County before the First World War. After spending the war in the Royal Army Medical Corps he joined Birmingham City as a trainer in 1920. At the end of his first season with the St. Andrew's club they won the Football League Second Division championship. During the 1927–28 season, he had a brief period as caretaker-manager but left the club shortly afterwards. In association football, the manager is the person who runs a football club or a national team. Villa Park is a football stadium in Aston, Birmingham, England, with a seating capacity of 42,682. It has been the home of Premier League side Aston Villa since 1897. The ground is less than a mile from both Witton and Aston railway stations and has hosted sixteen England internationals at senior level, the first in 1899 and the most recent in 2005. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. The Third Division South of The Football League was a tier in the English football league system from 1921 to 1958. It ran in parallel with the Third Division North with clubs elected to the League or relegated from Division Two allocated to one or the other according to geographical position. Some clubs in the English Midlands shuttled between the Third Division South and the Third Division North according to the composition of the two leagues in any one season.
