Shuvro
Shuvro (শুভ্র in Bengali), sometimes transliterated as Shubhro or Śubhra, is a fictional character created by Bangladeshi writer Humayun Ahmed. Shuvro is one of Ahmed's recurring characters, who first appeared in the short story "Ekti Shada Gari" ("A White Car"). The character became popular, and Ahmed wrote six novels about Shuvro between 1990 and 2010, including ''Daruchini Dip'' (''Cinnamon Island''), which was adapted as a film in 2007 starring Riaz as Shuvro. The character, whose name translates as "White", is meant to be a perfect spirit, set apart from the world. As Syed Monzur Morshed put it, Shuvro "is the 'white' of the mind, that is far from all the filth of the earth." He is seen by Bengali readers as a role model. ''Daruchini Dwip'' ( bn, দারুচিনি দ্বীপ) is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language film. It was released on 31 August 2007 throughout Bangladesh. The film is based on the Bangladeshi novelist and film maker Humayun Ahmed’s popular novel of the same name. It was directed by popular actor - director Tauquir Ahmed. Humayun Ahmed (; 13 November 1948 – 19 July 2012) was a Bangladeshi novelist, dramatist, screenwriter, filmmaker, songwriter, scholar, and professor. His breakthrough was his debut novel ''Nondito Noroke'' published in 1972. He wrote over 200 fiction and non-fiction books, many of which were bestsellers in Bangladesh. His books were the top sellers at the Ekushey Book Fair during the 1990s and 2000s. He won the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1981 and the Ekushey Padak in 1994 for his contribution to Bengali literature. In the early 1990s, Ahmed emerged as a filmmaker. He went on to make a total of eight films - each based on his own novels. Misir Ali ( bn, মিসির আলি) is a fictional character in a series of novels by Bangladeshi author Humayun Ahmed. He was described as one of the most famous characters in Bengali literature, TV and film over the last three decades. In the books, Ali plays the role of a part-time professor of Psychology at the University of Dhaka. Despite his not being a professional psychiatrist, people come to him for psychiatric treatment because of his special interest and knowledge in parapsychology.
