Yiddish
Yiddish (, or , ''yidish'' or ''idish'', , ; , ''Yidish-Taytsh'', ) is a West Germanic language historically spoken by Ashkenazi Jews. It originated during the 9th century in Central Europe, providing the nascent Ashkenazi community with a vernacular based on High German fused with many elements taken from Hebrew (notably Mishnaic) and to some extent Aramaic. Casey Stern (born October 17, 1978, in Massapequa, New York) is an American television personality and radio host who currently works for Turner Sports and Sirius XM Radio. Career Stern departed MLB.com's BaseballChannel.tv, formerly MLB Radio where he was most recently host of the Fantasy 411. On April 28, 2006, he began hosting a half-hour television show on the Baseball Channel on MLB.com called MLB.com Midday. Eric Stern (musician)
Eric Stern is an American vocalist, accordionist, composer, arranger, and pianist based in Portland, Oregon, best known as the founder and artistic director of the band Vagabond Opera. He also performs as a soloist, as well as with the Eric Stern Trio. Stern, with Vagabond Opera, has appeared on NPR and performed at the Kennedy Center, the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, Joe's Pub in New York City. Career Stern was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in June 1971 and trained as a vocalist at the Delaware Valley Opera Company. At the age of 21, Stern decided to pursue writing and moved to Paris, returning to the U.S., and to music, a year and a half later. In 2002, Stern founded the group Vagabond Opera, known for their blend of eclectic musical styles, including German cabaret, Klezmer, and jazz. Elena Stern (born 8 November 1994) is a retired Swiss curler from Zürich. Career Stern first represented Switzerland on the international stage at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics where her team of Michael Brunner, Romano Meier and Lisa Gisler won the gold medal. In 2014, she played in her first World Junior Curling Championship as the alternate for Corina Mani. They lost the tiebreaker 7–6 to Sweden's Isabella Wranå. She returned the following season at the 2015 World Junior Curling Championships, this time as lead for Lisa Gisler. Her Swiss team won the bronze medal. In 2015 she also played in her first European Curling Championship as alternate for Alina Pätz. She did not play in any games.
