''Showbiz'' is the debut studio album by English rock band Muse, first released on 7 September 1999 through Taste Media. Recorded between April and May 1999 at RAK Studios and Sawmills Studio, respectively, the album was produced by John Leckie and Paul Reeve in conjunction with the band. ''Showbiz'' was a moderate commercial success, reaching number 29 on the UK Albums Chart. As of 2018, ''Showbiz'' has sold more than 1.2 million copies worldwide. Muscle Museum (EP)
''Muscle Museum'' is the second EP by English rock band Muse. Recorded in 1998 at Sawmills Studios with producer Paul Reeve, it was released on 11 January 1999 by Dangerous Records, limited to 999 hand-numbered copies. The EP features six tracks, five of which were released again later – "Instant Messenger" (as "Pink Ego Box") was featured as the B-side to the band's third single " Muscle Museum", while four were re-recorded for the group's debut full-length album '' Showbiz''. Recording and release As with their self-titled debut EP, Muse recorded ''Muscle Museum'' at Dennis Smith's Sawmills Studios with producer Paul Reeve, with the sessions taking place in 1998. PIAS Recordings (formerly Play It Again Sam) is a Belgian record label founded in 1983 by Kenny Gates and Michel Lambot. Play It Again Sam expanded along with other European independent labels in the early 1980s. Play It Again Sam's prominent early artists were electronic-rock acts like Front 242, Meat Beat Manifesto and The Young Gods. Maverick was an American entertainment company founded in 1992 by Madonna, Frederick DeMann, and Veronica "Ronnie" Dashev, and formerly owned and operated by Warner Music Group. It included a record label (Maverick Records), a film production company (Maverick Films), book publishing, music publishing, a Latin record division (Maverick Música), and a television production company. The first releases for the company were Madonna's 1992 coffee table publication ''Sex'' and her studio album ''Erotica'', which were released simultaneously to great controversy as well as success. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data.
