Shotts F.C.
Shotts Football Club was a 19th-century football club based in Shotts, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Although it only existed for 7 years, it twice reached the Lanarkshire Cup final and once reached the Scottish Cup quarter-final. History The club was formed in 1876, as a works side for the Shotts Ironworks, and its first match was on 26 August 1876, against a Partick F.C. side, which won 8–0. There had been an attempt to merge with the East Lanarkshire Cricket Club and play under the East Lanarkshire name before undertaking competitive football, but the club only ever played under the Shotts name. Its first competitive match was in the 1876–77 Scottish Cup, losing at Stonelaw in the first round. One of its earliest reported matches - against the Shotts Instrumental Band - was abandoned after a visiting player broke his collarbone in a fall, the match umpire fortunately being a doctor. Drumpellier Country Park is a country park situated to the west of Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The park was formerly a private estate. The land was given over to the Burgh of Coatbridge for use as a public park in 1919, and was designated as a country park in 1984 by the then Monklands council, part of Strathclyde. The park covers an area of and comprises two natural lochs (one of which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI)), lowland heath, mixed woodlands and open grassland. The Monkland Canal lies towards the southern perimeter of the park. The lochs and the canal attract many water birds, both resident (such as swans and mallard ducks) and over-wintering migrants, and the loch shores and woodland floor provides an abundance of wild flora. Doune (; from Scottish Gaelic: ''An Dùn'', meaning 'the fort') is a burgh within Perthshire. The town is administered by Stirling Council. Doune is assigned Falkirk postcodes starting "FK". The village lies within the parish of Kilmadock and mainly within the area surrounded by the River Teith and Ardoch Burn. In the 2001 Scottish census, 2.75% residents of Doune could speak Scottish Gaelic.
