John Shott
John Headley Shott (born June 24, 1948 in Bluefield, West Virginia) is an American politician and a Republican member of the West Virginia House of Delegates representing District 27 since January 12, 2013. Shott served non-consecutively from January 2009 in the District 24 seat until his appointment May 19, 2010 to the West Virginia Senate District 10 seat to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Senator Don Caruth until January 2011. Education Shott earned his BS in psychology from Davidson College and his JD from the University of North Carolina School of Law. Hugh Ike Shott
Hugh Ike Shott (September 3, 1866October 12, 1953) was an American newspaper editor, pioneer broadcaster, and Republican politician in the U.S. State of West Virginia. Career Shott apprenticed as a printer. He moved to the then-booming new city of Bluefield, West Virginia. He took control of the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, the city's primary morning newspaper. Via straw parties, he also controlled the "competing" evening ''Mountain Sunset Review''. He was also involved in the railway mail service and was postmaster for several years. In that era, postmaster was a political appointment given by the President of the United States. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1928 and re-elected in 1930. However, he was defeated for a third term in 1932, as well as in his attempt to run for the United States Senate in 1936.
