Shooting At The 2019 Pan American Games
Shooting competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru are scheduled to be held between August 8 and 10, 2019 at the Las Palmas Air Base. 15 medal events are scheduled to be contested. Six for men, six for women and three mixed gender events. The men's 50 m pistol, men's 50 m rifle and men's double trap events have been dropped in favour of three mixed gender events. This was done after the International Olympic Committee pushed for gender equal events across all sports. A total of 256 sport shooters will qualify to compete at the games. The top two shooters, not already qualified, in each individual event will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Las Palmas Air Base is a military airport in Santiago de Surco District, city of Lima, Peru. It is administered by the Peruvian Air Force (abbreviated FAP), one of three branches of the Peruvian Armed Forces. The runway length does not include a displaced threshold on Runway 02. Alison Weisz (born May 22, 1995) is an American rifle shooter. In 2020, she qualified to represent the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Early life and education Weisz was born in Rapid City, South Dakota and grew-up in Belgrade, Montana. Weiss first learned to shoot a gun at age 9 when her family enrolled her in a firearm safety class. She graduated from Belgrade High School in 2013. She attended University of Mississippi. Career A month after graduating for the University of Mississippi, Weisz joined the United States national shooting team and won her first competition.
