The Women's 10 metre air rifle event at the 2012 Olympic Games took place on 28 July 2012 at the Royal Artillery Barracks Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich, is a barracks of the British Army which forms part of Woolwich Garrison. In the qualifier, each shooter fired 40 shots with an air rifle at 10 metres distance from the standing position. Scores for each shot were in increments of 1, with a maximum score of 10. The top 8 shooters in the qualifying round moved on to the final round. There, they fired an additional 10 shots. These shots scored in increments of .1, with a maximum score of 10.9. Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich, is a barracks of the British Army which forms part of Woolwich Garrison. History In 1716 two permanent field companies of Artillery (each of a hundred men) were formed by royal Warrant and placed under the command of the Master-General of the Ordnance. They were initially quartered in the Warren, about half a mile from the current barracks site. Sarah Scherer (born February 12, 1991, in Salt Lake City) is an American sports shooter. She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics, finishing in 7th place at Women's 10 metre air rifle. In the same event in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro she finished 8th. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she also competed in the women's 50 m rifle - 3 positions event, finishing in 33rd place. She had previously won a junior silver medal in this event in 2010. Bahiya Mansour Al-Hamad (born 21 June 1992) is a rifle shooter from Qatar. She was named the Best Female Athlete of the Year 2011-2012 by the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC). Petra Zublasing (born 30 June 1989) is an Italian sport shooter who won the 10 m air rifle event at the 2014 World Championships. Career She first competed internationally in 2003, having begun sports shooting in 2001. She competed in the Women's 10 metre air rifle and the women's 50 metre three positions events at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She won her first World Cup event in 2013 in Granada. In 2014, she won her greatest title to date, winning the women's 10 m air rifle event at the 2014 World Championships. To win, she beat the then reigning Olympic champion Yi Siling by 0.3 points with the last shot of the event.
