Shooting At The 1996 Summer Olympics – Men's 25 Metre Rapid Fire Pistol
The men's ISSF 25 meter rapid fire pistol was one of the fifteen shooting events at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Ralf Schumann defended his title from Barcelona, setting two new Olympic records. Schumann was the third man to successfully defend an Olympic title in the rapid fire pistol, and the first (and, as of the 2016 Games, only) to win three or more medals in the event; he would finish with three golds and five total medals. Emil Milev of Bulgaria (silver) and Vladimir Vokhmyanin of Kazakhstan (bronze) each won their nation's first medal in the event, though Vokhmyanin was a repeat bronze medalist (for the Unified Team in 1992), making him the 10th man to win multiple medals in the event. There were 23 competitors from 19 nations. Nations had been limited to two shooters each since the 1952 Games. Wolf Creek Shooting Complex
The Wolf Creek Shooting Complex, now known as the Tom Lowe Shooting Grounds, is a shooting range located southwest of Atlanta, Georgia, United States, in Fulton County, Georgia, Fulton County. During the 1996 Summer Olympics, it hosted the Shooting at the 1996 Summer Olympics, shooting event. Until 2002, it was also often used for ISSF World Cup competitions in rifle and pistol events, although such competitions, when held in the United States, have now reverted to being carried out at Fort Benning. The venue is now owned by the Parks & Recreation Department of Fulton County. It has 20 trap shooting, trap and skeet shooting combination fields, and nine lighted areas. The facility has been host to several NSSA State and Zone skeet tournaments. The range is also home to recreational shooting leagues such as the Atlanta Skeet and Trap League. Lajos Pálinkás (born 21 May 1964 in Zirc, Veszprém County, Veszprém) is a Hungarian sport shooter. He has competed for Hungary in pistol shooting at four Olympics (1992 to 2004), and has been close to an Olympic medal in 1996 (finishing seventh in the rapid fire pistol).
