), Polygon (film) ''Shooting Range'' (russian: Тир) is a 1979 Soviet animation film directed by Vladimir Tarasov. The film is twenty-one minutes long and is set to jazz music. It is a satirical critique of capitalism and life in the United States. Plot In New York City, an unemployed young man (Based on Holden Caulfield) finds a job in a shooting gallery as a living target. After a while, the man falls in love and lives in the gallery with his wife at gunpoint. Finally, they give birth to baby, and the shooting range owner wants to use it as another target, too. Disgusted, the family flies off, but there are a lot of other unemployed people to fill their position. Vladimir Ilich Tarasov (russian: Владимир Ильич Тарасов; born 7 February 1939 in Moscow) is a Russian animator and animation director. He is best known for his Soviet-era science fiction short films, such as ''The Pass, Contact'' and ''Contract'', among others. Biography He studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute (Moscow Fine Art and Design University) from 1965 until 1970. Since 1957 he worked at the studio Soyuzmultfilm first as an animator and then as an art director with V. Y. Bordzilovsky, M. A. Botov and V. D. Degtyaryov and then from 1970 till 1991 as the director. He is one of the founders of ''"Studio 13"'' and worked there as a director during the period 1991–1994. Vyacheslav (Slava) Ganelin ( he, ויאצ'סלב (סלבה) גנלין , lt, Viačeslavas Ganelinas, russian: Вячеслав Шевелевич Гане́лин; born 17 December 1944) is a Lithuanian–Israeli jazz pianist, composer, and pedagogue. Primarily a pianist, he also plays other keyboards ( organ and synthesizer) as well as bass, guitar, and percussions. He was the leader of the Ganelin Trio, described by critic Chris Kelsey as "arguably the world's greatest free jazz ensemble" of the 1970s and '80s. He was a founder of Lithuanian jazz (Soviet jazz, when Lithuania was controlled by the Soviet Union). Early career Ganelin was born in Kraskovo, near Moscow. The Kino International is a film theater in Berlin, built from 1961 to 1963. It is located on Karl-Marx-Allee in former East Berlin.
