Shooting At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's 50 Metre Rifle Three Positions
The Women's 50 metre rifle three positions event at the 2008 Olympic Games took place on August 14 at the Beijing Shooting Range Hall. The event consisted of two rounds: a qualifier and a final. In the qualifier, each shooter fired 60 shots with a .22 Long Rifle The .22 Long Rifle or simply .22 LR or 22 (metric designation: 5.6×15mmR) is a long-established variety of .22 caliber rimfire ammunition originating from the United States. It is used in a wide range of rifles, pistols, revolvers, smo ... at 50 metres distance. 20 shots were fired each from the standing, kneeling, and prone positions. Scores for each shot were in increments of 1, with a maximum score of 10. The top 8 shooters in the qualifying round moved on to the final round. There, they fired an additional 10 shots, all from the standing position. These shots scored in increments of .1, with a maximum score of 10.9. The Beijing Shooting Range Hall () is a shooting hall located in Shijingshan District, Beijing. It hosted the qualifying rounds and finals of ten shooting sports events at the 2008 Summer Olympics, consisting of all 10-, 25- and 50-metre events. It was the venue of the first gold medal awarded at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The entire shooting sports events for the 2008 Summer Paralympics were also held at this venue. Construction of the venue broke ground on July 13, 2004 and was completed on July 28, 2007. It was used for a pre-Olympic test event in April 2008 as part of the 2008 ISSF World Cup. The venue, with a total surface area of 45,645 square meters, contains qualification competition halls, a final competition hall, a storehouse, a room for armed police use, a heating and ventilation equipment room, and an electric transformer room. Lidija Mihajlović ( sr-Cyrl, Лидија Михајловић; born September 23, 1968) is a Serbian sport shooter. Mihajlović was born in Niš (SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia) and began her shooting career at SK "NIŠ 1881" in her native city. She is currently coached by Zoran Stojiljković. She has participated at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona as an Independent Olympic Participant, due to the country of FR Yugoslavia being under United Nations sanctions which prevented the country from taking part in the Olympics.
