Beverloo Camp
Beverloo Camp (french: Camp de Beverloo, nl, Kamp van Beverloo) was a military installation at Leopoldsburg (Bourg-Léopold in French), Belgium; 70 km southeast of Antwerp. The camp was created in 1835, shortly after the independence of Belgium from the Netherlands. It acquired a permanent character in 1850. During World War I and World War II it was occupied by German troops. In May 1944 the camp was bombed by the Allied forces, damaging some blocks. A part of the Camp was also used as a POW-camp by the Germans. Beverloo Soldiers' Council The Beverloo Soldiers' Council was set up by mutinous German soldiers in November 1918 as part of the November Revolution. The first mutiny, by Alsatian soldiers occurred on 12 May 1918. They worked closely with the Brussels Soldiers' Council. Arthur Rothrock
Captain Arthur Dale Rothrock (January 7, 1886 – November 28, 1938) was an American sport shooter who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics. In 1920 he won an Olympic gold medal as a member of the American team in the team small-bore rifle competition and a silver medal in the individual small-bore rifle. He also participated in the 300 metre military rifle, standing event but his place is unknown. Additionally, he participated in a number of marksmen competitions both in the United States and abroad. Personal life Rothrock was born in New Stark, Ohio to George and Anna May (Bowers) Rothrock. At a young age, his family moved to Ada, Ohio. Rothrock graduated from Ada High School in 1901 before attending Ohio Northern University. Rothrock died in Ada, Ohio, two days before he was set to retire from the US Army. Niels Larsen
Niels Hansen Ditlev Larsen (21 November 1889 – 15 November 1969) was a Danish sport shooter and rifle manufacturer. He competed in various rifle and pistol events in the 1912, 1920 and 1924 Summer Olympics and won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals, becoming the most successful Danish Olympic shooter. Biography Larsen took up shooting early, and was training in a city club by the age of 14. His talent was noticed by Hans Schultz, an Olympic shooter who owned a guns workshop in Otterup. Schultz hired Larsen in 1910; in 1912 they competed together in the Stockholm Olympics, in 1917 became business partners, and in 1919 expanded the Schultz's workshop into the Schultz & Larsen factory. Earlier in 1916 Larsen married Schultz's daughter Ellen. Their son Uffe Schultz Larsen also became an Olympic shooter and worked for Schultz & Larsen.
