Betsy Sholl
Elizabeth "Betsy" Sholl (born 1945) is an American poet who was poet laureate of Maine from 2006 to 2011 and has authored nine collections of poetry. Sholl has received several poetry awards, including the 1991 AWP Award, and the 2015 Maine Literary Award, as well as receiving fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Maine Arts Commission. Sholl's poetry has been published in anthologies and in literary journals including ''Orion Magazine'', ''Field'', ''TriQuarterly'', ''The Kenyon Review'', ''The Massachusetts Review'', and ''Ploughshares''. Career Sholl was one the founding members of Alice James Books, a non-profit publishing house at the University of Maine at Farmington, established in 1973 with the intent of widening women's access to publishing. Brad Sholl
Brad Sholl (born 10 November 1972) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Australian Football League. A defender, Sholl started his career with North Melbourne but after two seasons on their list he only managed to play twice. Before the 1995 season he was traded to Geelong for Robert Scott and played in a grand final in his first year at his new club. He finished runner up in Geelong's 1996 best and fairest award and 7th in the 1997 Brownlow Medal. Brett Sholl (born 7 September 1971) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Australian Football League (AFL). Sholl was a wingman but also played some games as a half forward flanker. North Melbourne recruited him from Irymple but he was unable to break into their seniors and ended up at Carlton. Craig Sholl
Craig Sholl (born 30 December 1967) is a former Australian Rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Kangaroos during the 1990s. He won a premiership with the club in 1996 and the Syd Barker Medal in 1991, which he drew with Mick Martyn. Sholl played his 200th game for the Kangaroos in the 1998 Grand Final which they lost to the Adelaide Crows. Sholl would once again taste premiership glory in the 1999 Grand Final against Carlton, kicking an early goal and assisting another. His final game was the 2000 preliminary final against Melbourne in which he finished on a high note, kicking seven goals. Eddie Sholl
Edward Sholl (15 April 1872 – 29 June 1952) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Sholl played six games in the 1897 inaugural VFL season, three of which were finals. He captained Melbourne in 1899 and in the same year represented Victoria in an interstate fixture against South Australia. Richard Sholl
Captain Richard Adolphus Sholl, J.P., (18 December 1847 – 9 May 1919) was a Postmaster-General in Western Australia. Sholl was the son of Robert John Sholl and Mary Ann (''née'' Berckelman) his wife, and was born in Bunbury, Western Australia. He entered the Civil Service of Western Australia as a probation clerk in the Post Office in 1863, and became Chief Clerk of the department in 1873; Chief Clerk and Accountant of the Treasury in 1879; Chief Clerk of the Post Office in 1881; and Postmaster-General in 1889. He became lieutenant in the Metropolitan Rifles in 1875, captain in 1883, and captain commandant in 1888. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace of the colony in 1891. Captain Sholl married Mary Howard, daughter of the late Lieutenant-Colonel Sanders, late 30th Regiment on 7 January 1887; having earlier married Eline Florence Ashton (died 1877) on 19 September 1872 by who he had a daughter and two sons. Robert John Sholl
Robert John Sholl (16 July 1819 – 19 June 1886) was a government administrator, magistrate, explorer, journalist, entrepreneur, harbourmaster, customs official, postmaster and lay reader in Western Australia (WA), during the colonial era. Because of his multiple, simultaneous roles, which carried judicial, political, cultural and commercial power and influence, Sholl is regarded as a significant figure in the history of North-West Australia, at an early stage of its settlement by Europeans. Between 1865 and 1881, Sholl was the most senior government official and only judicial officer in North West Australia between the Murchison River and Timor Sea – a jurisdiction known at the time as the North District. Robert Frederick Sholl (27 August 1848 – 4 December 1909) was an entrepreneur and a member of the Parliament of Western Australia. His business interests included pearling vessels, real estate and mining. Sholl was also a representative at the Australasian Federal Convention of 1897.
