is one of the ten wards in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. As of August 31, 2021, the ward has a population of 213,704. History *1871: Shiroishi village was founded. *1873: Kamishiroishi village split off from Shiroishi village. *1902: Shiroishi village and kamishiroishi village were merged to form Shiroishi village. *1950: Shiroishi village was merged into Sapporo city. *1972: Sapporo was designated as one of the cities designated by government ordinance and Shiroishi-ku was established. *1989: Atsubetsu-ku split off from Shiroishi-ku. Chitose Line
The is a railway line in Hokkaido operated by Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido), connecting Numanohata, Tomakomai and Shiroishi Station in Shiroishi-ku, Sapporo, linking the Muroran Main Line and Hakodate Main Line. There also is a branch line to New Chitose Airport. Service outline The line forms part of the trunk route between Sapporo and Southern Hokkaido. Japan National Route 12
is a Japanese national highway connecting the two largest cities of Hokkaido, Sapporo and Asahikawa. The highway begins at an intersection with National Routes 36 and 230 in Sapporo. It travels northeast across the western side of Hokkaido to Asahikawa where it ends at an intersection with National Routes 39 and 40. Route description National Route 12 is a highway in western Hokkaido that runs north from Sapporo to Asahikawa. Its southern terminus lies at an intersection in Chūō-ku, Sapporo where it meets National Routes 36 and 230. Along the way from Sapporo to Asahikawa, it passes through the cities of Ebetsu, Iwamizawa, Takikawa, and Fukagawa.
