Vaughan Gregory Johnson (born 20 July 1947) is an Australian politician who served in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1989 to 2015. Early life Born in Bourke, New South Wales, he was a grazier and contractor before entering politics. Political career Having moved to Queensland, he was a councillor on Quilpie Shire Council from 1970 to 1973. From 1972 to 1973, he was Chairman of the Quilpie Branch of the National Party. Toompine is a town in the locality of Quilpie in the Shire of Quilpie, Queensland, Australia. History The town of Toompine was surveyed in 1870. The name is believed to derive from the Aboriginal name Thaumpine, meaning ''leech''. Toompine Provisional School opened in 1900. In 1901, it became a half-time school in conjunction with Duck Creek Provisional School (meaning they shared a single teacher between the two schools). The school closed in July 1902. Geography The town lies on the edge of what is called the Eromanga Inland Sea, which existed in the Early Cretaceous. The Eromanga region has abundant oil wells and opal mines. Adavale is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Quilpie, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Adavale had a population of 93 people. Geography Adavale is in South West Queensland, west of the state capital, Brisbane. Between Adavale and Yaraka is Yapunyah waterhole. The town is only accessible along a gravel road from Charleville in the east, Quilpie in the south and Blackall in the north. History The town is named after Ada Constance Stevens (wife of Ernest James Stevens). The Stevens family had the Tintinchilla (later Milo) pastoral run in the area. The Shire of Adavale is a former local government area in the south-east of Queensland, Australia, centred on the town of Adavale. It existed from 1879 to 1930. History On 11 November 1879, the Murweh Division was created as one of 74 divisions within Queensland under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879''. On 5 February 1889, the western part of Murweh Division was separated to create the new Adavale Division. The Adavale Divisional Board met for the first time on 26 May 1889 and Mr E. B.
