Ship Of Fools (World Party Song)
"Ship of Fools" (subtitled "Save Me from Tomorrow" ) is a rock song by World Party released as a second single from the 1987 debut album ''Private Revolution''. It was written and produced by singer and multi-instrumentalist Karl Wallinger, formerly of The Waterboys. Wallinger was the sole member of World Party at the time of release. Overview It was World Party's sole ''Billboard'' Top 40 single, debuting on that chart on 4 April 1987 and peaking at number 27. It also reached no. 42 on the UK singles chart, no. 5 on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock chart, and no. 4 on the Australian Music Report chart. A longer version, at 6 minutes and 40 seconds, was released as a 12" single, with a double B Side of World Groove (Do The Mind Guerrilla) and Nowhere Man (Ensign ENYX 6606). The song has also been included on over a dozen compilations, including Greenpeace's ''Rainbow Warriors'' compilation. World Party
World Party were a British musical group, which was essentially the solo project of its sole member, Karl Wallinger. He started the band in 1986 in London after leaving the Waterboys. Career After a stint as musical director of a West End performance of ''The Rocky Horror Picture Show'', Karl Wallinger joined a funk band called "The Out", before joining Mike Scott's Waterboys in 1984 to record the album ''A Pagan Place''. After their third album in 1985, ''This Is the Sea'', Wallinger departed to form World Party. Recorded at Wallinger's home in 1986, his debut album ''Private Revolution'' yielded two minor hits in the UK, "Private Revolution" and "Ship of Fools". Lazlo Bane is an alternative rock band from Santa Monica, California, United States. They are well known for collaborating with former Men at Work member Colin Hay, and providing the song "Superman (Lazlo Bane song), Superman" as the theme for the television show ''Scrubs (TV series), Scrubs''. Something for Kate are an Australian alternative rock band, which formed in 1994 with Paul Dempsey on lead vocals and guitar, and Clint Hyndman on drums. They were joined in 1998 by Stephanie Ashworth on bass guitar and backing vocals. The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top-40 Singles from 1966, and Album charts from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations. "Nowhere Man" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles. It was released in December 1965 on their album ''Rubber Soul'', except in the United States and Canada, where it was first issued as a single A-side in February 1966 before appearing on the album '' Yesterday and Today''. ''Private Revolution'' is the debut album by the British rock band World Party. At this point, singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Karl Wallinger was the only member of World Party, and the only person pictured on the cover.
