Shinano-Matsukawa Station
is a railway station in the village of Matsukawa, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Lines Shinano-Matsukawa Station is served by the Ōito Line and is 26.0 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Matsumoto Station. Station layout The station consists of one ground-level island platform connected to the station building by a level crossing. The station has a ''Midori no Madoguchi'' staffed ticket office. Platforms History The station opened on 29 September 1915 as on the Shinano Railway. The Shinano Railway was integrated into the Japanese Government Railways on 1 June 1937 and the station was renamed to its present name the same day. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Matsumoto Station
is a train station in the city of Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East), and the private railway operator Alpico Kōtsū. Lines Matsumoto Station is served by the Shinonoi Line and is 13.3 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Shiojiri Station. It is also a terminal station for the Ōito Line.
