Shengze Zhu
Shengze Zhu (; born 1987) is a Chinese producer and documentary filmmaker. She co-founded the production company Burn the Film with director Yang Zhengfang and is best known for her documentation of contemporary Chinese life through film. Early life Zhu was born and raised in the Hubei province of China. She moved to America in 2010 to pursue a photojournalism degree at the University of Missouri in Columbia. It was during this time that Zhu got into the field of creative documentaries. She has lived in Chicago since 2015. Career Since 2010, Zhu has been collaborating with fellow Chinese producer, visual artist, writer, and director Yang Zhengfang. They co-founded the production company Burn the Film, which focuses on creating and supporting moving-image works with “singular voices”. Wuhan
Wuhan (, ; ; ) is the capital of Hubei, Hubei Province in the China, People's Republic of China. Visions du Réel (Visions of Reality) is an internationally renowned documentary film festival held in April each year in Nyon, Switzerland. Established in 1969 as the Nyon International Documentary Film Festival, the event adopted its current name in 1995 and is the largest Swiss documentary festival. At its inception, the festival promoted Swiss films and films that were otherwise inaccessible — that is, those created in the Eastern Bloc countries behind the Iron Curtain. International Film Festival Rotterdam
The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) is an annual film festival held at the end of January in various locations in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Since its foundation in 1972, it has maintained a focus on independent and experimental filmmaking by showcasing emerging talents and established auteurs. Cinéma Du Réel
Cinéma du Réel (Cinema of the Real) is an international documentary film festival organized by the BPI-Bibliothèque publique d'information (Public Information Library) in Paris and was founded in 1978. The festival presents about 200 films per year in several sections by experienced documentary directors as well as first timers. The screenings take place at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, and in several movie theaters partners of the festival. The 37th edition of Cinéma du réel took place from in March 2015.
