Shen Jinlong
Shen Jinlong (; born October 1956) is a Chinese admiral who served as Commander of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) from 2017 to 2021. Biography Shen was born in Nanhui, Shanghai in October 1956. Shen's military career began as an enlisted man, whom after receiving a commission advanced in rank to become the commanding officer of a frigate and later a frigate squadron (''dadui''). He subsequently served as the chief of staff of a frigate division (''zhidui'') and as commander of Support Base of the North Sea Fleet and president of Dalian Naval Academy. He was president of Naval Command Academy from 2011 until 2014. In August 2014, he was appointed deputy commander of the South Sea Fleet, and in December was promoted to commander of the fleet, a deputy military region position (). North Sea Fleet
The Northern Theater Command Navy (), or the North Sea Fleet (NSF; ) is one of the three fleets of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy, under the Northern Theater Command. In September 1950 the Qingdao Army Base was redesignated as a naval base. Following the departure of the Soviet Navy from Lüshunkou (Port Arthur), the North Sea Fleet was established in 1960 with naval bases in Qingdao and Lüshunkou. It includes the Aircraft carrier Liaoning, as well as nuclear-powered attack and missile submarines based at Qingdao bastion. The North Sea Fleet was historically the most capable of the Navy's three fleets, being the first in China to operate destroyers, shore-based missiles and nuclear submarines. In recent years however, the shift in strengthening of importance and strategic capabilities of the East and South Sea Fleets are more prioritised. Jiang Guoping (; born October 1962) is a vice admiral ('' zhongjiang'') of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) who has been deputy commander of the North Theater Command since September 2019. He is a delegate to the 13th National People's Congress. Biography Jiang was born into an official family in Rushan County, Shandong, in October 1962. He graduated from Dalian Naval Academy and served as its president from 2011 to 2014. In September 2014, he was commissioned as deputy chief of staff of the North Sea Fleet. In December, he became commander of the 19th Escort Formation of the People's Liberation Army Navy, responsibling for the convoy of the Gulf of Aden. (; ja, 将, Shō; ) is the rank held by general officers in some East Asian militaries. The ranks are used in both the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China on Taiwan. The People's Liberation Army and the People's Armed Police use three levels at present while the Republic of China Armed Forces use four. The Central Military Commission (CMC) is the highest national defense organization in the People's Republic of China. It operates within the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) under the name "Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China", and as the military branch of the central government under the name "Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China".
