''Shelley'' is a 2016 Danish drama horror film directed by Ali Abbasi and starring Ellen Dorrit Petersen. It was shown in the Panorama section at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival. Plot A young Romanian woman, Elena, is hired as a housekeeper for a Danish couple, Louise and Kasper. While wealthy, the couple chooses to live in a lakehouse without electricity, grow their own food, and raise chickens. Their only connection to the outside world is a landline phone. Louise is recovering from surgery and requires some extra help around the house. Although Elena feels uncomfortable with the unusual isolation of the house, she otherwise fits in easily. She also meets Leo, a spiritual healer and friend of Louise who tries to help Louise recover more quickly by purging the bad energy from her body. Ali Abbasi (director)
Ali Abbasi ( fa, علی عباسی, born 1981) is an Iranian filmmaker. He is best known for his films '' Shelley'' (2016), ''Border'' (2018), and ''Holy Spider'' (2022). Abbasi also directed the last two episodes of the first season of the series ''The Last of Us''. He has received various accolades, including an Un Certain Regard award, four Robert Awards, and a German Film Award, in addition to nominations for seven European Film Awards, a Goya Award, and two Guldbagge Awards. Early life Abbasi attended Tehran Polytechnic until 2002, when he emigrated to Sweden to study architecture at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Björn Johan Andrésen (born 26 January 1955) is a Swedish actor and musician. He is best known for playing the 14-year-old Tadzio in Luchino Visconti's 1971 film adaptation of the 1912 Thomas Mann novella ''Death in Venice''.
