Sheikh Hemayet Hossain Mia is a retired Bangladeshi police officer and former head of the Criminal Investigation Department. Earlier, he served as an Additional Inspector General of Police at the Armed Police Battalion. Early life Mia is from Faridpur District. Career Froom 28 September 1998 to 16 May 2001, Mia was the Superintendent of Police of Khagrachari District. Mia was denied promotion during the 2001 to 2006 Bangladesh Nationalist Party government along with officers from Gopalganj District and Hindu officers as they were perceived to be loyal to the opposition party, Awami League. In 2001, he was the Superintendent of Police of Jhalakathi District. Criminal Investigation Department (Bangladesh)
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is a specialized intelligence and investigation wing of the Bangladesh Police. It is headquartered in Malibagh, Dhaka and maintains a training school named the Detective Training School. Personnel attached to this wing essentially work in plain clothes. Khagrachari ( bn, খাগড়াছড়ি) is a district in the Chittagong Division of Southeastern Bangladesh. It is a part of the Chittagong Hill Tracts region. History The Chittagong Hill Tracts was under the reign of the Tripura State, the Arakans & the Sultans in different times before it came under the control of the British East India Company in 1760. Although the British got the authority of the Chittagong Hill Tracts in 1760, they had no authority besides collecting nominal taxes. Police Training Centre, Rangpur was incepted in 1972 at Rangpur, Bangladesh, Rangpur police lines as the Zonal Police Training School (ZPTS) of Bangladesh Police. As the numbers of the trainees were increasing with the pace of time, the necessity of improving the standard of the training institute was felt.
