Sharon Labchuk
Sharon Labchuk (born November 25, 1952 in Trenton, Ontario) is an environmental activist and political organizer for the Green Party of Canada (GPC). She was also the first leader of the Green Party of Prince Edward Island. Career Labchuk founded the Green Party of Prince Edward Island in 2004. Labchuk is national director of organizing for the GPC. She resigned the leadership of the Green Party of PEI on July 12, 2012. Election results In the 2006 federal election Labchuk was the GPC candidate in Malpeque, placing 4th with 901 votes or 4.65%. She was defeated in the district of Rustico-Emerald during the 2007 Prince Edward Island general election running for the Green Party. Labchuk took 6% of the vote, finishing in third place. Trenton (2001 population 16,770) is a large unincorporated community in Central Ontario in the municipality of Quinte West, Ontario, Canada. Located on the Bay of Quinte, it is the starting point for the Trent-Severn Waterway, which continues northwest to Peterborough and eventually Port Severn on Georgian Bay. History The Trenton area is part of the traditional area of the Mississauga and other Indigenous First Nations. The first known expedition by Europeans in the area was one by French explorer Samuel de Champlain, which followed the Trent passing through Trenton in 1615. Charlottetown is the county seat of Queens County, and is the largest city and the capital of Prince Edward Island. Richard Earle Brown is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in the 2007 provincial election. He represented the electoral district of Charlottetown-Victoria Park as a member of the Liberal Party. He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in a 1997 by-election, following the resignation of Wayne Cheverie. He was subsequently defeated by Bob MacMillan in the 2000 provincial election, but defeated MacMillan when he ran again in the 2003 election.
