Shanghai University (SHU; ) is a municipal public university in Shanghai, China. It is affiliated with the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, City of Shanghai. The university is part of Project 211 and the Double First-Class Construction. Shanghai University maintains three campuses: Jiading, Shanghai, Jiading Campus, Yanchang Campus (in Jing'an, Shanghai, Jing'an), and Baoshan, Shanghai, Baoshan Campus. The university has two undergraduate colleges and five broad academic divisions (Natural Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering, Economics and Management, and Fine Arts), which contain 29 schools or departments. Program of Introducing Talents of Discipline to Universities, Plan 111, also be referred to as Project 111 or 111 Project () is a project initiated in 2006 by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China (MOE) and State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) to establish innovation centers for the purposes of technology transfer. In 2005, the MOE announced the creation of 100 innovation centers as part of the plan. The plan aimed to bring in about 1,000 overseas experts from the top 100 universities and research institutes worldwide. Shanghai University, commonly referred to as SHU, or colloquially Shangda (), is a public research university located in Shanghai. The 555-acre main Baoshan campus is situated in the north of Shanghai, and there are two other campuses in Jiading and Jing'an.
