Curse Of The Golden Flower
''Curse of the Golden Flower'' () is a 2006 Chinese epic wuxia drama film written and directed by Zhang Yimou. The Mandarin Chinese title of the movie is taken from the last line of the Qi dynasty poem written by the rebel leader Huang Chao who had revolted against the Tang dynasty. With a budget of US$45 million, it was at the time of its release the most expensive Chinese film to date, surpassing Chen Kaige's '' The Promise''. It was chosen as China's entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for the year 2006, but did not receive the nomination. The film was nominated for Costume Design. In 2007 it received fourteen nominations at the 26th Hong Kong Film Awards and won ''Best Actress'' for Gong Li, ''Best Art Direction'', ''Best Costume and Make Up Design'' and ''Best Original Film Song'' for "菊花台" (Chrysanthemum Terrace) by Jay Chou. Liu Peiqi (; born 30 November 1957) is a Chinese actor. He started his training in 1979 when he joined Military Art School. He joined Military Drama Group in Xinjiang Province in 1983. In 1985 he starred in his first movie, ''Father and Son'', directed by Wang Bingling. After transferring to Beijing Military Drama Group, then the China National Drama Group, Liu starred in '' Days Without Leifeng'', directed by Lei Xianhe. ''The Opium War'' (鸦片战争) is a 1997 Chinese historical epic film directed by Xie Jin. The winner of the 1997 Golden Rooster and 1998 Hundred Flowers Awards for Best Picture, the film was screened in several international film festivals, notably Cannes and Montreal. Feng Gong (; born 6 December 1957) is a Chinese actor, ''xiangsheng'' performer, director, screenwriter. and politician. He is best known for his performances in the annual CCTV New Year's Gala, having made more appearances on the show than every other major performer. Chen Tianhua (; 1875 – December 1905) was a Chinese revolutionary born in Xinhua, Hunan province to a poor peasant family during the Qing dynasty. Biography Early life and education Chen did not begin his formal education until he was fifteen. He did study Chinese classics from local teacher. He enrolled into the new-style Qiushi Academy in his hometown Xinhua in the late 1890s. Political career After receiving the shengyuan degree in 1902, Chen was sponsored by the academy to study in Japan in 1903 on a government scholarship.
