Shake Hands With Murder
''Shake Hands with Murder'' is a 1944 American comedy mystery film directed by Albert Herman and starring Iris Adrian, Frank Jenks and Douglas Fowley. The film is a B movie released by the low-budget distributor Producers Releasing Corporation.Dixon p.55 Plot Patsy Brent runs a small bail bond company. Her ambitious but dull-witted partner Eddie Jones secures bail for Steve Morgan, a man accused of embezzling $100,000 from his bank. Brent is furious and is forced to track Morgan before he can skip the country. When the president of the bank is found murdered, she also suspects that Morgan may even be a killer as well. However he is trying to prove his innocence of the charge, and Brent is persuaded to assist him in finding the real culprit. Albert Herman
Albert Herman (1887–1958) was an American actor, screenwriter and film director. Herman was a prolific director, working mainly on low-budget movies for companies such as Producers Releasing Corporation. He is sometimes credited as Al Herman. Juan De La Cruz (actor)
Juan de la Cruz (born Juan de la Cruz de Morety; 4 June 1881 – 12 November 1953) was a Danish actor and singer of Spanish descent who appeared in Hollywood films from the 1910s through the 1950s. Biography Juan was born in Copenhagen to Alexander Philomeno de la Cruz de Morety and Marie Grishauge Jepson. He attended Copenhagen College and then studied music at the Royal Danish Theatre. Originally a singer and stage actor in his native Copenhagen, de la Cruz moved to Hollywood around 1912. He was reportedly of noble descent, and was referred to in books published at the time as Count de Morety. Gene Roth
Eugene Oliver Edgar Stutenroth (January 8, 1903 – July 19, 1976), known profesionally as Gene Roth, was an American film actor and film manager. Early years Roth was born in Redfield, South Dakota. He was the son of a German father and a Swedish mother, who raised their three sons after the father left the family. The actor, whose billing names included Gene Stutenroth, Eugene Stutenroth, and Eugene Roth finished high school in 1920 and was a manager of a movie theater before he became an actor. Film Roth appeared in over 250 films between 1922 and 1967. His first film was ''Daughter of the Tong'' (1939). As Gene Stutenroth, he became a successful manager of movie theaters in the 1930s, and was working in this capacity when he visited Hollywood in 1944.
