Señorita bananas (also known as Monkoy, Cariñosa, or Cuarenta Dias) are diploid cultivars of the banana ''Musa acuminata'' originating in the Philippines. They are very small stout bananas which, like all bananas belonging to the AA cultivar group, are known for being extraordinarily sweet. ''Gazelle'' was an early sidewheeler on the Willamette River in what is now the U.S. state of Oregon. She did not operate long, suffering a catastrophic boiler explosion on April 8, 1854, less than a month after her trial voyage. This was the worst such explosion ever to occur in the Pacific Northwest states. The wrecked ''Gazelle'' was rebuilt and operated for a few years, first briefly as the unpowered barge ''Sarah Hoyt'' and then, with boilers installed, as the steamer ''Señorita''. A victim of the explosion was D.P. Fuller, age 28, who is buried in Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. The Senorita Stakes is an American flat Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-old fillies held annually at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. The race began in 1968 at the now-closed Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California. It was moved to Santa Anita Park upon Hollywood Park's closure at the end of the 2013 season. Señorita bread, also known as Spanish bread or ''pan de kastila'', is a Filipino bread roll characteristically oblong or cylindrical in shape with a traditional sweet filling made of breadcrumbs, butter or margarine, and brown sugar. It is usually yellowish in color due to the use of eggs and butter. The exterior is sprinkled with breadcrumbs.
