Serpent In The Rainbow
''Serpent in the Rainbow'' is an Australian mini series which first screened on the ABC in 1973. It was set in the late 19th century.Ed. Scott Murray, ''Australia on the Small Screen 1970-1995'', Oxford University Press, 1996 p233 The ''Bulletin'' called it "a classical allegory about two squatting families who play out their own version of the Trojan War." Premise In outback Australia toward the end of the 19th century, two families that down sheep stations have different views - the austere and religious Quiggs, of "Sinai" station and the more liberal Lovetts, of "Woolumbra". Helen Quigg leaves her husband, falls for Phillip Lovett and seeks refuge with the Lovetts. The Quiggs want her back but the Lovetts refuse. The head of the families, Pryor Lovett and Simeon Quigg, do not want violence but the younger members are harder to contain. Cornelia Frances
Cornelia Frances Zulver, OAM (7 April 1941 – 28 May 2018), credited professionally as Cornelia Frances, was an English-Australian actress. After starting her career in small cameos in films in her native England, she became best known for her acting career in Australia after emigrating there in the 1960s, particularly her iconic television soap opera roles with portrayals of nasty characters. Frances was of the latter known for her role as Morag Bellingham on '' Home and Away'' since its inception in 1988, after leaving that series, she appeared on a semi-regular basis as the storyline permitted, rejoining briefly as a permanent cast member in 2001, before going back to an itinerant basis. Walter Pym (7 April 1905– 22 January 1980) was an Australian actor and producer best known for his extensive experience in radio, during the 1940s and 1950s, in 1938, he became the studio and production manager at 3UZ, he featured in film and television appearances, making his screen debut in 1943. Michael Jenkins (director)
Michael Jenkins (born 1946) is an Australian writer, producer and film and television director. He is the creator of the crime drama television series '' Scales of Justice'', '' Blue Murder'' and '' Wildside'', all of which deal with corruption in the New South Wales police force. He also directed the cult film '' The Heartbreak Kid'', and its spin-off series ''Heartbreak High''. Jenkins is one of the most highly regarded Australian directors of the 1990s, known for his distinctive, gritty style, particularly for his use of multiple hand-held cameras and semi-improvised dialogue. Ken Wayne (1925–1993) was an Australian actor of radio, theatre, film and television.
