Roger FitzAlan
Roger FitzAlan was a thirteenth-century Mayor of London. Having been a Sheriff of London in 1192, he was elected the second Lord Mayor of London in September 1212 on the death of his predecessor. There has been some speculation that he could have been related to Henry Fitz-Ailwin, Roger was possibly a nephew (son of his brother Alan), or grandson (son of Alan FitzHenry), or some other relation. Roger Fitz Alan was close to Henry Fitz-Alwin, 'Throughout his mayoralty he was regularly accompanied by Roger fitz Alan. Henry Fitz Ailwin was closely associated with Roger FitzAlan who may have been related or a business associate. William Hardell
William Hardell was a Mayor of London and a ''Magna Carta'' surety. He was appointed Sheriff of the City of London in 1207 and elected Mayor of London (a century later known as Lord Mayor of London) in 1215. After the sealing of ''Magna Carta'' by King John in 1215, he was appointed to be one of the Enforcers, sometimes called Sureties, of Magna Carta. The Lord Mayor of London is the mayor of the City of London and the leader of the City of London Corporation. Within the City, the Lord Mayor is accorded precedence over all individuals except the sovereign and retains various traditional powers, rights, and privileges, including the title and style ''The Right Honourable Lord Mayor of London''. Worshipful Company Of Mercers
The Worshipful Company of Mercers is the premier Livery Company of the City of London and ranks first in the order of precedence of the Companies. It is the first of the Great Twelve City Livery Companies. Although of even older origin, the company was incorporated under a Royal Charter in 1394, the company's earliest extant Charter. The company's aim was to act as a trade association for general merchants, and especially for exporters of wool and importers of velvet, silk and other luxurious fabrics (mercers). By the 16th century many members of the company had lost any connection with the original trade. Today, the Company exists primarily as a charitable institution, supporting a variety of causes. (Medieval Latin for "Great Charter of Freedoms"), commonly called (also ''Magna Charta''; "Great Charter"), is a royal charter of rights agreed to by King John of England at Runnymede, near Windsor, on 15 June 1215. First drafted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Cardinal Stephen Langton, to make peace between the unpopular king and a group of rebel barons, it promised the protection of church rights, protection for the barons from illegal imprisonment, access to swift justice, and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown, to be implemented through a council of 25 barons. Neither side stood behind their commitments, and the charter was annulled by Pope Innocent III, leading to the First Barons' War.
