Serena (1962 Film)
''Serena'' is a 1962 black-and-white, British B film crime thriller directed by Peter Maxwell and stars Patrick Holt, Emrys Jones and Honor Blackman. The title of the film is the name of one of the characters, Serena Vaughan, who may have figured in a murder. ''Serena'' was part of a double bill and was later released to the home media market with ''Impact'' (1963), also directed by Peter Maxwell. Plot Detective Chief Inspector Gregory (Patrick Holt) from Scotland Yard, and his partner, Sergeant Conway (Bruce Beeby), are called in to investigate the shotgun murder of a woman at Rosehill Cottage, a remote Surrey cottage. The victim appears to be Ann Rogers (Honor Blackman), the wife of womanising artist Howard Rogers ( Emrys Jones). Her face, however, is so badly disfigured by the two shotgun blasts, it is hard to be sure of her identity. Peter Maxwell
Peter Maxwell (23 January 1921 – 5 April 2013) born as Peter Magitai, was a British, and later Australian film director, director and screenwriter of television and film. Biography He was born in Vienna, Austria, to newspaper journalist Leo Magatai and wife Johanna, his family fled Vienna in the 1930s, and he changed his surname to enter the British Army, and after having been posted to India, returned to Britain to work as an assistant director to Alexander Korda in 1949, he worked briefly in Australia in the early 1960s, before returning to England. In 1967 he emigrated to Australia permanently, where he directed such films as ''Country Town'' and television series including ''Bellbird (TV series), Bellbird'', ''Riptide (Australian TV series), Rip Tide'' and ''A Country Practice''. Gerry Duggan (actor)
Gerald Joseph Duggan (10 July 191027 March 1992) was an Irish-born Australian character actor who appeared in many well-known films. He was also a stage and television actor. He never achieved stardom, but was a familiar face in small roles in film and television. His trademarks were his Irish brogue, pronounced lisp and prominent jaw. Early life Gerry Duggan was born in Dublin in 1910. When he was 16 he moved to New York, where he had his early exposure to theatre acting. In the 1930s he moved to Australia, where he settled, although he worked internationally. Career He was almost 50 when he made his first film, ''The Siege of Pinchgut'' (1959). This was a British production made in Australia, and was the last film from Ealing Studios. Duggan was nominated for the BAFTA Most Promising Newcomer Award for his role as Pat Fulton.
