Universiade
The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. In July 2020 as part of a new branding system by the FISU, it was stated that the Universiade will be officially branded as the FISU World University Games. The Basketball Federation of Serbia ( sr, Кошаркашки савез Србије, Košarkaški savez Srbije) is a non-profit organization and the national sports governing body for basketball in Serbia. The organization represents Serbia in FIBA and the men's and women's national basketball teams in the Olympic Committee of Serbia. The Federation traditionally selects the Serbian Basketball Player of the Year. The Serbia women's national basketball team ( sr, Женска кошаркашка репрезентација Србије, Ženska košarkaška reprezentacija Srbije) represents Serbia in international women's basketball competition and is controlled by the Basketball Federation of Serbia. Serbia is currently the European Champions, and are ranked tenth in the FIBA World Rankings. It was known as the "FR Yugoslavia / Serbia and Montenegro women's national basketball team" until 2006. When Serbia became independent, it became the successor state to the Serbia and Montenegro and, therefore, the results of previous state and SFR Yugoslavia rightfully belong to it.
