Selmer's Cabinet
The Selmer Cabinet governed Norway between 11 October 1880 and 1 March 1884. It was led by Christian Selmer. All but three of the cabinet's ministers were impeached after a dispute about whether or not the cabinet should be required to meet in the Storting. Frederik Christian Stoud Platou
Frederik Christian Stoud Platou (17 February 1811 – 23 June 1891) was a Norwegian legal scholar, Supreme Court justice, district stipendiary magistrate and politician. Personal life He was born in Christiania as a son of educator, professor, politician and State Secretary Ludvig Stoud Platou (1749–1815) and his wife Karen Lumholtz (1785–1833). He was a maternal grandson of Nicolai Lumholtz and brother of Carl Nicolai Stoud Platou, and through the latter an uncle of Valborg Platou and Lars Hannibal Sommerfeldt Stoud Platou. Nils Christian Egede Hertzberg
Nils Christian Egede Hertzberg (26 October 1827 – 8 July 1911) was a Norwegian theologian, educator and politician. Background He was born in Ullensvang in Hordaland, Norway. He was a son of vicar and politician Niels Hertzberg (1759–1841) and Anna Christine Egede Thomsen (1789–1860). His sister Maja Elisabeth Weinwich Hertzberg (1824–1881) was the wife of author Claus Pavels Riis (1826–86). The family moved to Bergen when he was nine. He enrolled in Bergen Cathedral School in 1841 and took the examen artium here in 1846. He later graduated from the Royal Frederick University with the cand.theol. degree in 1851. Henrik Laurentius Helliesen
Henrik Laurentius Helliesen (20 December 1824–22 July 1900) was a Norwegian civil servant and politician. Helliesen was born in Bodø in Nordland county, Norway. He studied law and earned his law degree at the University of Christiania in 1847. He was employed by the Ministry of Finance in 1849 and advanced to bureau chief in 1853 and deputy secretary in 1854. He was the County Governor of Nedenes amt from 1860-1863. Jens Holmboe (politician)
Jens Holmboe (14 July 1821 – 13 July 1891) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party of Norway, Conservative Party. A jurist by education, he was a member of the Storting, Norwegian Parliament for five terms, and held several different government posts from 1874 to 1884. Personal life He was born in Tromsøe as the son of Michael Wide Holmboe (1791–1863) and his wife Anna Rasch Schjelderup (1794–1878). He had several brothers and sisters, including businessman Conrad Holmboe, Hans Conrad Holmboe. His grandfather Jens Holmboe (bailiff), of the same name was a bailiff, and his uncles Even Hammer Holmboe and Hans Holmboe and Leonhard Christian Borchgrevink Holmboe became involved in politics. Niels Petersen Vogt
Niels Petersen Vogt (15 April 1817–8 November 1894) was a Norwegian civil servant and politician. He served as the Norwegian Minister of the Interior five times between 1871 and 1884, and member of the Council of State Division in Stockholm four times 1872–1883. Christian Homann Schweigaard
Christian Homann Schweigaard (14 October 1838 – 24 March 1899) was a Norwegian politician of the Conservative Party. He served as the 3rd prime minister for two months in 1884, a period after the impeachment of his predecessor Christian August Selmer called Schweigaard's Ministerium. Schweigaard held a number of key positions, including Chairman of the Conservative Party from 1889–1891 and 1893–1896, as well as Parliamentary Leader from 1889–1891 and 1894–1895. Rasmus Tønder Nissen (14 January 1822 – 19 January 1882) was a Norwegian, educator, theologian and politician. Biography Nissen was born at Melhus in Sør-Trøndelag. He attended to Trondheim Cathedral School graduating in 1839. He was Cand.theol. in 1843. He taught history, Greek and religion at Hartvig Nissen School and from 1852 he was director of the school. In 1864, he became the professor of church history at the University of Oslo.
