Selhurst Road
Selhurst Road is a main road between South Norwood and Selhurst in the London Borough of Croydon, south London. It forms part of the A213 road which is a major A Road connecting both Sydenham and Croydon. The road starts in South Norwood from the High Street, which is also part of the A213, then it carries on to Selhurst railway station opposite Heavers Meadow then on a side road it passes the BRIT School. The road carries on until it meets Northcote Road at a corner, this road carries on until it hits a five way junction with Whitehorse Road (towards Thornton Heath and Croydon), Windmill Road (towards Purley Way), Limes Road (residential) and Hampton Road (retail). The road passes four different schools within only 1,500 metres of each other. Roberts Cycles, a bicycle manufacture and custom framebuilder is located on the road. BRIT School
The BRIT School is a British performing and creative arts school located in Selhurst, Croydon, England, with a mandate to provide education and vocational training for the performing arts, music, music technology, theatre, musical theatre, dance, applied theatre, production arts and the creative arts film and media production (FMP), interactive digital design (IDD), visual arts and design (VAD). Roberts Cycles is a custom bicycle frame building business, originally located in Selhurst near Croydon, South London, now located in East Sussex, England. Beginning soon after World War II, Charles (Charlie) Benjamin Roberts was a frame-builder for Holdsworth, Claud Butler and Freddie Grubb. In the 1960s, he founded Roberts Cycles at the family home in Sydenham - he was joined in the workshop by his oldest son Charles, and then by his youngest son Geoff. Purley Way
Purley Way is a section of the A23 trunk road in the London Borough of Croydon, in the areas of Purley, Waddon and Broad Green, and has given its name to the out-of-town shopping area alongside it with a catchment area covering most of South London. It was designed as a bypass for Croydon, and opened in April 1925. It was formed from improvements to pre existing local roads: from north to south, Waddon Marsh Lane, Waddon Court Road and Coldharbour Lane. Thornton Heath is a district of Greater London, England, within the London Borough of Croydon. It is around north of the town of Croydon, and south of Charing Cross. Prior to the creation of Greater London in 1965, Thornton Heath was in the County Borough of Croydon. Maroondah Highway (also known as Whitehorse Road from Deepdene to Mitcham) is a major east–west thoroughfare in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, and a highway connecting the north-eastern fringes of Melbourne to the lower alpine region of Victoria, Australia. Route Whitehorse Road/Maroondah Hwy begins as a continuation of Cotham Road at Burke Road, through the suburbs of Balwyn and Deepdene. Heavers Meadow
Heavers Meadow is a meadow located in South Norwood and Selhurst in the London Borough of Croydon. South Norwood Recreation Ground is on the other side of the road. The meadow covers an area of 8 acres (3.34 hectares). With meadows there are not usually many facilities. Heavers is no exception; the only facility stated on the council's website is a footpath through a flood meadow. However the meadow is good for commuters from Tennison Road and the surrounding area who are going to Victoria as Selhurst railway station is on the other side of the meadow. There is no gate on the Tennison Road side so it is never closed at night. The path through the meadow is very popular with cyclists. South Norwood
South Norwood is a district of south-east London, England, within the London Borough of Croydon, Greater London and formerly in the historic county of Surrey. It is located 7.8 miles (12.5 km) south-east of Charing Cross, north of Woodside and Addiscombe, east of Selhurst and Thornton Heath, south of Crystal Palace/ Upper Norwood and Anerley, and west of Elmers End and Penge. Together with Norwood New Town, it forms the electoral ward of South Norwood in the local authority of Croydon. The ward as a whole had a resident population in 2001 of just over 14,000. Selhurst Railway Station
Selhurst railway station is in the London Borough of Croydon in south London, along the line from . It is operated by Southern, which also provides all the train services. The station is in Travelcard Zone 4. History The Balham Hill and East Croydon line was constructed by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) as a short-cut on the Brighton Main Line to London Victoria, avoiding Crystal Palace and Norwood Junction.
