Angus Seed
Angus Cameron Seed MM (6 February 1893 – 7 February 1953) was an English professional footballer, best remembered for his 16 years as manager of Barnsley in the Football League. He had a long playing career as a right back in non-League football and after retiring, he was Aldershot's first-ever manager and worked as a scout for Charlton Athletic. Personal life Seed's younger brother Jimmy was also a professional footballer, who played for Tottenham Hotspur, Sheffield Wednesday and England. Angus Seed served in the 2nd and 17th Battalions of the Middlesex Regiment during the First World War. On the night of 1–2 June 1916, he won the Military Medal for his actions as a stretcher bearer on Vimy Ridge, dragging wounded men back to the British dugouts under heavy fire. Graham Seed (born 12 July 1950, in London) is an English actor. Education Seed was educated at Charterhouse School, an independent boarding school in the market town of Godalming in Surrey, followed by RADA in London. Career Seed is best known for his role playing Nigel Pargetter in the BBC radio series ''The Archers'' from 1983 until January 2011, although actor Nigel Carrington briefly played the role when Seed took a break in the late 1980s. Harry Bolton Seed (August 19, 1922 – April 23, 1989) was an educator, scholar, former professor at the University of California, Berkeley. He was regarded as the founding father of geotechnical earthquake engineering. Biography Early life Harry Bolton Seed was born in Bolton, England, on August 19, 1922, into a family of a cotton mill manager. His father was Arthur Bolton Seed, and his mother's maiden name was Annie Wood; his sister Dorothy was nine years older than he was. Jeremiah Seed (1700–1747) was an English clergyman and academic. Life His father was Jeremiah Seed, who graduated B.A. from Jesus College, Cambridge, in 1682, and was rector of Clifton, Westmoreland, from 1707 until his death in 1722. Jeremiah Seed the younger was educated at Lowther grammar school, and matriculated on 7 November 1716 at The Queen's College, Oxford, proceeding B.A. on 13 February 1722, and M.A. 1725. He was chosen a fellow in 1732, and was for some years curate to Daniel Waterland, vicar of Twickenham, whose funeral sermon he preached on 4 January 1741. Jimmy Seed
James Marshall Seed (25 March 1895 – 16 July 1966) was an English footballer and football manager. Despite being born in Blackhill, Seed was brought up in the village of Whitburn on the coast just to the north of Sunderland, the family moving when Seed was two years old. Playing career On leaving school at fourteen, Seed worked at Whitburn colliery and when he reached sixteen played football in the Wearside League for Whitburn, along with his brother Angus who would have a short professional career with Leicester Fosse. After scoring over eighty goals for Whitburn, Seed had unsuccessful trials at South Shields and Sunderland. However, Sunderland manager Bob Kyle decided to give Seed a second chance, this time playing him at inside right instead of centre forward in a North Eastern League match against Wallsend.
