Secrets Of A Model
''Secrets of a Model'' is a 1940 American drama film directed by Sam Newfield and starring Cheryl Walker, Harold Daniels and Phyllis Barry. It was made as an independent exploitation film on Poverty Row.Pitts p.196 Synopsis In order to raise money for her mother's operation, waitress Rita Wilson turns to modelling for a sculpture. She encounters the wealthy Jack Thorndyke and after getting drunk at a party at his penthouse apartment, he takes advantage of her. She contracts a mystery illness and Jack refuses all her calls. She goes through a succession of increasing dead-end jobs and then faints in the street. Waking up in hospital she is reunited with her old boyfriend milkman Bob Grey. After recovering and agreeing to marry Bob, she now discovers that Jack Thorndyke is now trying the same tricks on her former roommate Sally. Sam Newfield, born Samuel Neufeld, (December 6, 1899 - November 10, 1964), also known as Sherman Scott or Peter Stewart, was an American B-movie Film director, director, one of the most prolific in American film history—he is credited with directing over 250 feature films in a career which began during the silent era and ended in 1958. In addition to his staggering feature output, he also directed one -and two-reel comedy Short film, shorts, training films, industrial films, TV episodes and pretty much anything anyone would pay him for. Because of this massive output—he would sometimes direct more than 20 films in a single year—he has been called the most prolific director of the sound era. Many of Newfield's films were made for Producers Releasing Corporation, PRC Pictures. This was a film production company headed by his brother Sigmund Neufeld. Edgar Mason Borden (May 1, 1888 – June 30, 1955) was an American film actor who started his career in vaudeville as an acrobat and then successfully turned to comedy.
