The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation ( ar, أمين عام منظمة التعاون الإسلامي; french: Secrétaire général de l'Organisation de la coopération islamique), is the chief administrative officer of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the head of the General Secretariat and other organs of the OIC. A secretary general is elected by the recommendation of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers from the Member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, 57 member states for a renewable term of five years. It is the main post within the OIC elected under the maxims of equity and its principals. OIC's secretary general is the second highest intergovernmental organization head after the Secretary-General of the United Nations while the undersecretary general is the second highest position within the framework of the OIC's decision implementation. Amadou Karim Gaye 1960
Amadou is a spongy material derived from ''Fomes fomentarius'' and similar fungi that grow on the bark of coniferous and angiosperm trees, and have the appearance of a horse's hoof (thus the name "hoof fungus"). It is also known as the "tinder fungus" and is useful for starting slow-burning fires. The fungus must be removed from the tree, the hard outer layer scraped off, and then thin strips of the inner spongy layer cut for use as tinder. Amadou was a precious resource to ancient people, allowing them to start a fire by catching sparks from flint struck against iron pyrites. Bits of fungus preserved in peat have been discovered at the Mesolithic site of Star Carr in the UK, modified presumably for this purpose. Remarkable evidence for its utility is provided by the discovery of the 5,000-year-old remains of "Ötzi the Iceman", who carried it on a cross-alpine excursion before his death and subsequent ice-entombment. Iyad bin Amin Madani (born 26 April 1946) is a Saudi politician who served in different cabinet posts. Ekmeleddin Mehmet İhsanoğlu (; born 26 December 1943) is a Turkish academic, diplomat and politician who was Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) from 2004 to 2014.
