''Secret'' () is the soundtrack album for the 2007 Taiwanese romance film, ''Secret'', directed and co-written by Jay Chou and starring Chou, Gwei Lun-mei, Anthony Wong, and Alice Tzeng. The album was produced by Chou, released on 13 August 2007 by JVR Music and Sony Music Taiwan. The album was nominated a Golden Horse Award for Best Original Film Score and won a Golden Horse Award for Best Original Film Song for "Secret". Alice Tzeng () was born on 22 April 1984. She is a Taiwanese Golden Horse Award nominated actress. Career Alice debuted as a model and starred in a few advertisements. She also appeared on Taiwanese entertainment show '' Guess Guess Guess'' hosted by Jacky Wu. In 2007, she made her first movie appearance in ''Secret'', a movie directed by Jay Chou. Mandopop or Mandapop refers to Mandarin popular music. The genre has its origin in the jazz-influenced popular music of 1930s Shanghai known as Shidaiqu; with later influences coming from Japanese enka, Hong Kong's Cantopop, Taiwan's Hokkien pop, and in particular the Campus Song folk movement of the 1970s. 'Mandopop' may be used as a general term to describe popular songs performed in Mandarin. Though Mandopop predates Cantopop, the English term was coined around 1980 after "Cantopop" became a popular term for describing popular songs in Cantonese. Nominees were announced on May 22, 2008, and the award winners in 12 traditional music categories (of 47 nominees) and 23 popular music categories (of 124 nominees) were selected by a panel of 33 judges after four rounds of jury meetings. Initially, there were 10,632 submissions from 185 companies in the music industry, making it the largest submission pool in the Awards' history. The Golden Melody Awards (), commonly abbreviated as GMA, is an honor awarded by Taiwan's Ministry of Culture to recognize outstanding achievement in the Mandarin, Taiwanese Hokkien, Hakka, and Formosan-languages popular and traditional music industry. The GMAs are awarded on the basis of votes by members of jury, and it has constantly been recognized as the equivalent to the Grammy Awards in Chinese-speaking world.
