Sean O'Brien (Ohio Politician)
Sean O'Brien (born August 19, 1968) is a former Democratic member of the Ohio Senate who represented the 32nd district. The district includes all of Ashtabula and Trumbull counties, as well as a portion of Geauga County (including the City of Chardon; but excluding Chardon Township). O'Brien formerly served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2011 to 2016. Life and career A lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley, O'Brien went on to graduate from Edinboro University before earning his law degree from the University of Akron. O'Brien founded the Trumbull County Community Foundation, an economic development not-for-profit. He is married with two daughters. O'Brien was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in November 2010 with 64.53% of the vote, defeating Republican Geno Capone and Independent Werner Lange. Capri Silvestri Cafaro (born November 21, 1977) is a former Democratic member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 32nd District from 2007 to 2016. From the Mahoning Valley, Cafaro served three terms as an Ohio State Senator (2007-2016), including a stint as Minority Leader from 2009 to 2012. Her district included all of Trumbull County, Ashtabula County and portions of Geauga County (including the City of Chardon; but excluding Chardon Township). The Youngstown–Warren–Boardman, OH–PA Metropolitan Statistical Area, typically known as the Mahoning Valley (and historically the Steel Valley), is a metropolitan area in Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania the United States, with the city of Youngstown, Ohio, at its center. According to the US Census Bureau, the metropolitan statistical area (MSA) includes Mahoning and Trumbull counties in Ohio and Mercer County in Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the region had a population of 541,243, making it the 107th largest metro area in the country. Taking its name from the Mahoning River, the area has a large commuter population that works in Cleveland and Pittsburgh and their metropolitan areas. Tom Letson (born September 29, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio) is a former Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 64th District from 2007 to 2014. Life and career Letson was born in Columbus, but shortly after his birth the family moved back to the Warren, Ohio area. He attended Champion Local Schools, graduating in 1970 and then attended St. Bonaventure University, graduating from Kent State University in 1983 with a BA. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association.
