The name ‘Seal Bay’ refers to the section of coastline associated with both the visitor facilities and the prohibited areas located within the Seal Bay Conservation Park. Seal Bay Aquatic Reserve
__NOTOC__ Seal Bay Aquatic Reserve was a marine protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in waters off the south coast of Kangaroo Island immediately adjoining and including the intertidal zone within the locality of Seal Bay which is also part of the Seal Bay Conservation Park. It was declared on 30 November 1971 as the Seal Beach Aquatic Reserve for the purpose of ‘the protection of a major breeding colony of the Australian sea lion’. The following activities are prohibited in the aquatic reserve - access to waters adjoining Seal Bay by members of the public, fishing, and the collection or the removal of any marine organism. These marine areas can come in many forms ranging from wildlife refuges to research facilities. MPAs restrict human activity for a conservation purpose, typically to protect natural or cultural resources. Such marine resources are protected by local, state, territorial, native, regional, national, or international authorities and differ substantially among and between nations. This variation includes different limitations on development, fishing practices, fishing seasons and catch limits, moorings and bans on removing or disrupting marine life. Seal Bay Conservation Park is a protected area located on the south coast of Kangaroo Island in the Australian state of South Australia. It is the home of the third largest Australian sea lion colony in Australia. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations on Kangaroo Island. Its boundaries were created in 2002 in respect to “the long established name.” The majority land use within the locality is conservation while a smaller amount of land within the centre of the locality is zoned for agriculture. Seal Bay, Falkland Islands
Seal Bay is a bay, about 1 km across, on the rugged and exposed north coast of East Falkland in the Falkland Islands of the South Atlantic Ocean. It lies some 40 km north-west of Stanley. Description The valley behind the beach holds Swan Pond, a shallow wetland separated from the bay by a sandbar. The coastal vegetation consists of maritime heath and wet grassland overlying peat. Except on offshore stacks there is little remaining tussac. Important Bird Area Seal Bay has been identified by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area (IBA).
