Seeker Aviation Australia Pty Limited is an intelligence, surveillance and observation (ISR) aircraft manufacturer that was previously based in Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia. History Founded in 1983, Seabird Ultralight Aircraft began as a manufacturer of ultralight aircraft. In 1986, Seabird Ultralight Aircraft changed its name to Seabird Aviation Australia Pty Ltd, and created their own products, the prototype Seabird SB5 Sentinel and certified Seabird SB7 Seeker aircraft, the forerunner of the current Seabird Seeker aircraft. In 2014, Seabird Aviation Australia was acquired by Seeker Aircraft, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of a USA based aviation company CSI Aviation. Hervey Bay () is a city on the coast of the Fraser Coast Region of Queensland, Australia. The city is situated approximately or 3½ hours' highway drive north of the state capital, Brisbane. It is located on the Hervey Bay (Queensland), bay of the same name open to the Coral Sea between the Queensland mainland and nearby K'gari (Fraser Island), Fraser Island (also known as K'Gari and Gari). Seabird Seeker
The Seabird Seeker is a light observation aircraft built originally by Seeker Aviation Australia and Seabird Aviation Jordan. Since 2016 it has been manufactured in the US by Seeker Aircraft (US)/Erickson. It is powered by a Lycoming O-360 engine. The aircraft is marketed as a low cost alternative to observation helicopters for the military and civilian sectors. It can be used in roles such as pipeline inspection, coast watch, environmental duties, aerial photography and security. The Seabird Seeker has had some export success, and is operated by the Iraqi Air Force.
