Scottish Women's Rugby Union
The Scottish Women's Rugby Union (SWRU) was the national governing body for women's rugby union in Scotland. It was responsible for the governance of women's rugby union within Scotland. Its role was all encompassing. It went from youth recruitment, through administrating all senior based (aged 16+) competition, through to the performance and management of the Scotland women's national rugby union team. At their AGM in June 2009 the SWRU voted unanimously in favour of amalgamating the Scottish Rugby Union and the SWRU to form an integrated national governing body rugby in Scotland. Executive Board The SWRU was led by a volunteer based Executive Board. Board members were elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) at June each year. The Women's domestic rugby union leagues in Scotland are organised in a similar vein to the men's domestic leagues: on a national basis for the top leagues and regional leagues below feeding into those leagues. The top two Women's national leagues are the Premiership and National Division 1. The following leagues are split into regions. Madras College Former Pupils Rugby Football Club is a rugby union side based in St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. They play in Caledonia Regional League Division 2. They play at Station Park, St Andrews and field two men's fifteens each weekend, as well as a women's team (AKA The Saints). The club has close ties with Madras College, a secondary school in St Andrews. Although not all players are former pupils of the school, many are and sixth year pupils often train and play with the club during holidays and weeks in which school rugby is not on. Kirkcaldy ( ; sco, Kirkcaldy; gd, Cair Chaladain) is a town and former royal burgh in Fife, on the east coast of Scotland. It is about north of Edinburgh and south-southwest of Dundee. Watsonian Football Club is a rugby union club based in Edinburgh and part of the Scottish Rugby Union. The club is connected with George Watson's College as a club for former pupils, and changed its policy in the 1980s to be a fully open club, welcoming players of all abilities regardless of whether they attended the school or not.
