Scott Mayer (racing Driver)
Scott Mayer (born August 31, 1964 in Franklin, Wisconsin) is a former driver in the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series. He participated in the first three races of the 2003 IndyCar Series season for PDM Racing and crashed in all three races. He then failed to complete rookie orientation for the Indy 500. He entered the 2005 Indianapolis 500 with A. J. Foyt Enterprises but again failed to complete rookie orientation. He also made four starts in the Indy Pro Series in 2004 and 2005. In 2010 he tested with Doran Racing at Putnam Park in Indiana. In 2011 he raced in the 24 Hours of Daytona for Starworks Motorsport. The team finished 44th. In 2012 he competed part-time in the Rolex Sports Car Series and finished 24th in Daytona Prototype points with a best finish of fifth at Road America. He has returned to the series in 2013. Personal life Mayer's son Sam also races. He won US Legend Car Winter Heat Championship, the Summer Shootout and US Legend Car Asphalt Nationals in 2017. The y ... Dallara
Dallara is an Italian race car manufacturer, founded by its current President, Gian Paolo Dallara. After working for Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and De Tomaso, in 1972 in his native village of Varano de' Melegari (Parma), Italy he created "Dallara Automobili". Dallara is also the sole manufacturer of racing cars for the IndyCar Series, Indy Lights, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Super Formula Championships. Dallara produces cars for endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Daytona. The Kentucky Indy 300 was an IndyCar Series race held at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky. The IRL IndyCar Series debuted the race in 2000. In the 2002 race, Sarah Fisher won the pole position, the first such by a female driver in major open wheel competition. During the 2002 Infiniti Pro Series practice, Jason Priestley suffered serious injuries after a practice crash. Firestone Indy 400
The Firestone Indy 400 was an IndyCar Series race held at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. The event was most recently held in 2007. From 1981 to 2001, the event was better-known as the Michigan 500, and was held in high prestige. During its heyday of the 1980s, the race was part of Indy car racing's 500-mile "Triple Crown". Between 1968 and 2007, Michigan International Speedway hosted a total of 55 Indy car races, including twenty-two 500-mile events. In several seasons, the facility hosted two separate races annually. The races at Michigan became notorious for high speed, being rough on equipment, high attrition, and for devastating crashes. Firestone Indy 200
The Firestone Indy 200 was an Indy Racing League IndyCar Series race held at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee. In 2001, it marked the first American open wheel event in the Nashville area. In later years it was held as a Saturday night race. The 2007 event was postponed until Sunday after a series of rain showers at the track. Following the 2008 event, Indy Racing League officials decided to end their association with Nashville Superspeedway. The event was removed from the 2009 schedule, and afterwards the facility shuttered for several years. RoadRunner Turbo Indy 300
The RoadRunner Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas was an IndyCar Series race held at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. The IRL Indycar Series debuted the race in 2001. The first Indy/Championship races in the Kansas City area city took place in 1922-1924, at now-demolished Kansas City Speedway in Kansas City, Missouri. AAA held four races at the board track over three years. The final race was shortened from to due to damage to the track, and the series did not return. In 2007, the race was run on April 29, 2007. The move was made at the request of spectators and participants, in hopes of cooler weather for race day. The first six years saw the race held on very hot and humid July days, making it hard for the fans and drivers. With its new date, it will mark the last IRL race before the Indianapolis 500. The Indy Richmond 300 (formally known as the ''SunTrust Indy Challenge'') is an IndyCar Series race held at Richmond Raceway near Richmond, Virginia from 2001 to 2009,. From 2001–2007, the race was scheduled for 250 laps (187.5 miles); from 2008 to 2009, the race distance was extended to 300 laps. The event debuted as a Saturday night race in 2001. The event became one of the more popular races on the schedule, and was arguably the most successful IndyCar race held in traditional "NASCAR Country". The race hearkened back to the classic short track "bull ring" style of racing known for during the AAA and USAC eras of Indy car racing. Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR) is a racetrack in the Colorado Springs area within the city limits of Fountain, Colorado, that by October 12, 1997, was "the fastest 1-mile paved oval anywhere". The speedway hosted races in several series including the Indy Racing League and two NASCAR series ( Busch and Truck) until operations were suspended from 2005–08. A wide variety of amateur racing groups use PPIR for racing and training as the circuit is now closed to sanctioned professional auto racing due to the purchase of the track by PPIR LLC from NASCAR/ISC in 2008 after the track was put up for sale in 2006. The Firestone Indy 225 was an IndyCar racing event held at Nazareth Speedway from 1987– 2004. From 1987– 2001, the event was sanctioned by CART. In 2002, the race switched to the Indy Racing League. MAVTV 500
The MAVTV 500 was an IndyCar Series race held at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. The event represented a continuous lineage of open wheel oval racing in the Southern California-area that dates back to 1970. Since 2012, the event had been sponsored by MAVTV, a motorsports cable channel owned by Lucas Oil. For many years in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the race served as the season finale for the CART series.
