Scott Johnson (Wisconsin Politician)
Scott L. Johnson (born 1954) is an American farmer, consultant, and Republican politician. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Wisconsin's 33rd Assembly district since January 2023. Biography Scott Johnson was raised on his family's farm near Janesville, Wisconsin, and graduated from Milton High School. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, in 1977, and attended a master's program at University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. Johnson owns and operates his own farm, and has worked for many years as a farm consultant, including employment by the large agro-chemical company Monsanto. He also worked as a school bus driver in the Jefferson school district for more than 20 years. Wisconsin's 33rd Assembly District
The 33rd Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district comprises the southern half of Jefferson County and parts of northeast Rock County. It includes the cities of Fort Atkinson, Jefferson, and Milton, along with the norrthern half of the city of Whitewater and part of the city of Janesville, as well as the villages of Palmyra and Sullivan. The district is represented by Republican Scott Johnson, since January 2023. Wisconsin Elections Commission
The Wisconsin Elections Commission is a bipartisan regulatory agency of the State of Wisconsin established to administer and enforce election laws in the state. The Wisconsin Elections Commission was established by a 2015 act of the Wisconsin Legislature which also established the Wisconsin Ethics Commission to administer campaign finance, ethics, and lobbying laws. The two commissions began operation on June 30, 2016, replacing the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board (GAB), which was abolished. The Government Accountability Board had been established in 2008 to replace the Wisconsin Elections Board and Wisconsin Ethics Board. Membership The Commission is made up of six members, two of which are appointed by the Governor, and one each by the President of the Senate, the Senate Minority Leader, the Speaker of the Assembly, and the Assembly Minority Leader. Redistricting in Wisconsin is the process by which boundaries are redrawn for municipal wards, Wisconsin State Assembly districts, Wisconsin State Senate districts, and Wisconsin's congressional districts. Redistricting occurs—as in other U.S. states—once every decade, usually in the year after the decennial United States census. According to the Wisconsin Constitution, redistricting in Wisconsin follows the regular legislative process, it must be passed by both houses of the Wisconsin Legislature and signed by the Governor of Wisconsin—unless the Legislature has sufficient votes to override a gubernatorial veto. Don Vruwink
Don J. Vruwink (born June 12, 1952) is an American educator and Democratic politician. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 43rd Assembly district from 2017 through 2022. Biography Vruwink grew up on a dairy farm near Auburndale, Wisconsin, and graduated from Auburndale High School in 1970. He received his bachelor's degree in Social Studies and Political Science from University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point and his master's degree in History from University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. Vruwink taught history and was a coach of football, basketball and softball at Milton High School in Milton, Wisconsin from 1979 to 2011. Although retired from full-time teaching, Vruwink serves as both a substitute teacher, and as a baseball and softball umpire. The Wisconsin State Assembly elections of 2022 were held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. All 99 seats in the Wisconsin State Assembly were up for election. This was the first election to take place after redistricting following the 2020 United States census. Jefferson, Wisconsin
Jefferson is a city in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, United States, and is its county seat. It is at the confluence of the Rock and Crawfish rivers. The population was 7,973 at the 2010 census. The city is partially bordered by the Town of Jefferson. History Jefferson's location was selected to make use of the water power and transportation opportunities offered by the Rock River. It was the furthest point a steamboat could navigate the Rock in 1839. Later bridges built downstream prevented such navigation. Jefferson's founders were settlers from New England, particularly Connecticut, rural Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, as well some from upstate New York born to parents who had migrated there from New England shortly after the American Revolution.
