Scorpio (Trax Song)
"Scorpio" is a single released by South Korean rock band Trax. It was recorded and released in two versions: Japanese and Korean. The single was produced by X Japan's Yoshiki, who also composed the music to the title track, and includes a cover of X Japan's "Tears" in either Japanese or Korean. Yoshiki later helped write the lyrics to TRAX's second Japanese single "Rhapsody". The Japanese release included a 20-page color booklet. The Korean version has the additional track "Over the Rainbow" in two different versions. It was also the final Korean release to feature drummer, Rose, who would leave in 2006. Lyrics The Japanese version of the title song has the first and second verses in English and the chorus and third verse in Japanese. The Korean version also has the first and second verses in English, but the chorus and third verse are in Korean. The Japanese version has no parental advisory for coarse language. "Scorpio" is a song by Dennis Coffey and the Detroit Guitar Band. It charted at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has been sampled in several hip-hop songs since its release in 1971, most notably Mark Ronson's debut single " Ooh Wee", Public Enemy's "Night of the Living Baseheads", LL Cool J's " Jingling Baby", and Young MC's " Bust a Move". In 2016, the song was featured in the American television drama series ''Better Call Saul'' in the episode "Inflatable". The song is played over a montage of lawyer Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill (played by Bob Odenkirk) as he attempts to get himself fired. X Japan
was a Japanese rock band from Chiba, formed in 1982 by drummer and pianist Yoshiki and lead vocalist Toshi. Starting as a predominantly power/speed metal band with heavy symphonic elements, they later gravitated towards a progressive sound with an emphasis on ballads. Besides being one of the first Japanese acts to achieve mainstream success while on an independent label, the group is widely credited as one of the pioneers of visual kei, a movement among Japanese musicians comparable to Western glam. "Tears" is the ninth single by the Japanese heavy metal band X Japan, released on November 10, 1993. Overview The song was debuted/first performed on December 31, 1992, on a broadcast of NHK, NHK's Kouhaku Uta Gassen and featured all singers on this episode. Hideto Matsumoto, Hide, their guitarist, had the idea to distribute the lyrics starting on the first stanza with Akiko Wada's voice. It is the band's first single to be released under the name X Japan and the first to feature Heath (musician), Heath on bass. Dennis Coffey
Dennis James Coffey (born November 11, 1940) is an American guitarist. He was a studio musician for many soul and R&B recordings, and is well known for his 1971 Top 10 hit single " Scorpio". Biography Coffey learned to play guitar at the age of thirteen, in the Michigan Upper Peninsula town of Copper City. In 1955, as a fifteen-year-old sophomore at Detroit's Mackenzie High School, Dennis played his first record session - backing Vic Gallon in "I'm Gone", on the Gondola record label. In the early 1960s he joined The Royaltones who had had hits with "Poor Boy" in 1958 and "Flamingo Express" in 1961. The Royaltones played sessions with other artists including Del Shannon.
