Scientists For Future
Scientists for Future (S4F) is an international environmental initiative founded by a group of scientists in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in support of the student movement Fridays for Future (FFF). In March 2019 the initiative issued a statement titled ''Statement of scientists and scholars concerning the protests for more climate protection''. The statement was signed by 26,800 German-language scientists and scholars from Switzerland, Austria and Germany. The statement took place under the banner ''Die Anliegen der demonstrierenden jungen Menschen sind berechtigt'' (The concerns of the demonstrating young people are justified). History The foundation of Scientists for Future has its genesis in the initiative taken by Gregor Hagedorn. Warming Stripes
Warming stripes (sometimes referred to as climate stripes, climate timelines or stripe graphics) are data visualization graphics that use a series of coloured stripes chronologically ordered to visually portray long-term temperature trends. Warming stripes reflect a "minimalism, minimalist" style, conceived to use colour alone to avoid technical distractions to intuitively convey global warming trends to non-scientists. Deutschlandfunk (DLF, ''Broadcast Germany'') is a public-broadcasting radio station in Germany, concentrating on news and current affairs. The climate movement is a global social movement focused on pressuring governments and industry to take action (also called " climate action") addressing the causes and impacts of climate change. Environmental non-profit organizations have engaged in significant climate activism since the late 1980s and early 1990s, as they sought to influence the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The "World Scientists' Warning to Humanity" was a document written in 1992 by Henry W. Kendall and signed by about 1,700 leading scientists. Extinction Rebellion (abbreviated as XR) is a global environmental movement, with the stated aim of using nonviolent civil disobedience to compel government action to avoid tipping points in the climate system, biodiversity loss, and the risk of social and ecological collapse.
