New Berlin () is a city located along the Milwaukee /Waukesha County Border in the U.S. State of Wisconsin. The population was 40,451 at the 2020 census, making it the third-largest community in Waukesha County after the cities of Waukesha and Brookfield. Pronunciation Area residents put the accent on the first syllable of Berlin , rather than the second. History The first settlers, Sidney Evans and P.G. Harrington, arrived in the northeastern part of what is now New Berlin in 1836. The area first came under local government in 1838 as part of the Town of Muskego, which at the time was composed of New Berlin and Muskego. The area that is now New Berlin was separated from Muskego in 1839 and named the Town of Mentor. On January 13, 1840, Mentor became New Berlin. New Berlin Eisenhower Middle/High School
New Berlin Eisenhower Middle/High School is a combination middle school and high school located in New Berlin, Wisconsin, United States. Part of the School District of New Berlin, the school serves grades 7 through 12. The school was nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon School in 2005. Locals refer to the school as "Ike". History Eisenhower opened in September 1969, although construction of the building was not complete until the spring of 1970. The school opened with 400 9th and 10th grade students from New Berlin West. On Thursday, April 29, 1999 approximately 800 students from Eisenhower High School and Eisenhower Middle School staged a walkout, protesting the New Berlin Public School Board's $1.6 billion proposed budget cuts. New Berlin West High School
New Berlin West Middle/High School is a public middle/high school located in New Berlin, Wisconsin. It is a part of the School District of New Berlin. The school serves grades 7 through 12. The school colors are blue and gold, and the school mascot is the Viking. From 2001 through 2007, the school underwent major construction, including a new theater, a new fieldhouse with an indoor track and tennis courts, an upgraded and relocated library, and a new 10-classroom wing. Renovations were also made to the bathrooms and workout facilities. The class of 2007 was the first to host graduation in the new fieldhouse. Athletics West has a rivalry with the other New Berlin public high school, Eisenhower. New Berlin West's 2010 baseball team made it to the state tournament for the first time.
